Grackle birds are found in many countries and are considered a pest by some and the perfect pet by others. Grackle birds are considered to be an intelligent bird, and many can learn to communicate by the use of words. Grackle birds are not a large bird, but a rather small bird. Their iridescent feathers that are many times in colors of bronze and purple are an indication that a bird may be in the crackle bird family. The eyes of the grackle bird are yellow and the tail is long and keel-shaped.
The small Grackle bird weighs a mere 2 1/2 - 5 ounces when grown. The length of the bird is approximately 10 - 3 inches. When the crackle bird is in flight, its wingspan measures up to 18 inches. A female crackle bird is slightly smaller than the male bird and she will weigh a bit less and have a duller color to her feathers. These birds are common in Eastern regions.
The Grackle bird is native to North and South America. There are eleven different species of the Grackle bird. Some of these include the common Grackle, carib Grackle, Slender-billed Grackle, boat-tail grackle, and the nicaraguan Grackle.
The Grackle bird is not known for its beautiful music as the sound the Grackle bird makes is that of an insensitive crack. The Grackle bird is Scavenger of a bird that will feed on mice, small fish, and other birds as well. The common Grackle eats mulberries, nuts, toads, spiders, grasshoppers, sunflower seeds, snails, and crayfish to name a few. The Grackle bird has grown in population as humans have begun to clear out forests and continued in agriculture. Because of this, the Grackle bird has an increased supply of grains that are discarded.
The Grackle bird build strong nests made of rags, feathers, twigs, or weeds for example. They then line their new nests with feathers. In the spring of the year the Grackle birds will begin to breed. When a Grackle bird lays eggs, she will commonly lay four to five eggs at a time, that are various colors that can be light green, light brown, or light blue. These eggs can have streaks and blotches on them as well.
